Star Trek was something my dad and I bonded over when I was a kid and Star Trek Armada 2 was a game, we were both excited for. The first game was a fun RTS experience that was great for fans and had a ton of fan service. It came out very quickly after the first game. As it came out so quickly after the first game, not much has changed here at all and that was why at the time it was released it had a bit of a mixed reception.

Picard The Badass!
The story of Star Trek Armada 2 is one that I thought was pretty damn cool. It takes place shortly after the events of the first game and this time The Borg has a superweapon and they are able to assimilate a whole world in no time at all. Captain Picard decides to just ignore his orders and go on the attack to try and stop the Borg menace once and for all.As a Star Trek fan and as a Star Trek fan who loves the Borg, I thought this was pretty cool. The story could be told a bit better, but for the most part, the premise alone here was more than enough to get me invested saving the galaxy.

To Boldly Go
The story mode is broken up into missions and these can take a couple of hours to beat each! Each one has its own objectives, but they all use the same RTS style gameplay. The problem is the game really does throw you in at the deep end without much explanation for what you have to do or how you have to do it. If you have played the first game, you will be fine. However, those who jumped in with this second game will probably get frustrated very quickly.
The presentation is not bad at all, even if many things are reused from the first game. That was already a decent looking game and I feel that with the short development time this game had, it was all they could really do in all honesty with you.
Be The Capitan
While the single-player campaign is decent enough. It is playing all out skirmishes that is what really makes Star Trek Armada 2 so much fun. Playing as the Federation, Borg, Klingons, Romulans, and so on is a ton of fun. Getting resources, finding planets, waging war, and so on is something that is very addictive and you do feel like you are a captain of a fleet!
If you can find someone to play with and they are a fellow Star Trek fan, you guys are in for a hell of a time. Even years after this was released, when I would visit my folks my dad and I would play this game. However, I must admit that as we had so much time invested in the first game that was the one, we preferred to play.
Star Trek Legacy Pc
I love Star Trek and I feel that Star Trek Armada 2 is a decent enough game. The idea for the story is pretty cool, it is just not explored deep enough and some of the missions can overstay their welcome. It is a solid Star Trek game, but I feel that this one could have done with a bit longer in development. Actually, now that I think about it, they could have just added the content from here as an expansion to the first game! While this is not a bad game, I do feel you are better of playing and getting invested in the first Armada game.
