Jan 10, 2021 Nikon Transfer 2 2.13.0 on 32-bit and 64-bit PCs. This download is licensed as freeware for the Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) operating system on a laptop or desktop PC from camera software without restrictions. Nikon Transfer 20 2.13.0 is available to all software users as a free download for Windows. Using Nikon Transfer 2 I find works well although my Macbook didn't even see the D500 until I had installed the program. I have to plug the USB cable in to the computer, turn on the camera and then open Nikon Transfer. If I do it in a different order it doesn't always show 'D500' in the program window.
- Starting Nikon Transfer 2 (Mac OS)
- Connect the camera and start [Image Capture].
- Select the camera and select [Other...] in [Connecting this camera opens:].
- Select Nikon Transfer 2 and click [OK].Nikon Transfer 2 will start automatically the next time the camera is connected. This configuration should be set for each camera or memory card that you connect.
I used to use Nikon Transfer to transfer photos from my Nikon (Coolpix P5100) to my computer (Mac) and it was easy.
Now I have upgraded to OS 10.5.8. Why do they have to make it so complicated? I now have to use ViewNX 2 but I can't figure out how to do it. On the View NX 2 screen there's a camera icon labeled Transfer but it is grayed out. I can't find any instructions on how to use View NX2.
How do I transfer photos?
Is there any information available on how to use View NX2?
Added (1). Thanks for the suggestion, Won for All. I've only been using a digital camera for a couple of years, don't do that much photography, would rather not buy another piece of equipment.
I don't even know what this Lexar Pro is, how it works, had to do some searching to find that UDMA is ultra direct memory access and SD reader is secure digital reader. I think this is a bit beyond me.
So if you could tell me how to use ViewNX 2 that would be great.
Added (2). Later -- Problem solved! I realized, I had to delete Nikon Transfer. Then, I could use View NX 2 and successfully downloaded the photos to my computer. It wasn't that hard to do, pretty intuitive. But the downloading was slow.
So for me, it wouldn't be worth buying the Lexar Pro. I can see that for people who do a lot of photograph it might be worth it, though.

You can just do it the old fashion and fast way…
Use a card reader, pop your card in, and drag and drop the images into a folder on your Mac. I use Lightroom & Photoshop, and find ViewNX to be not near as good.
I can transfer 8 GB of photos in about 5 minutes with my Lexar Pro UDMA compact flash, SD reader.
