Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free multiplayer game based on the Return to Castle Wolfenstein game technology. A Macintosh version is now available for download. Developed by London-based Splash Damage — with whom id Software also collaborated to create the multiplayer levels for Doom 3 — Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was originally conceived as an add-on expansion pack for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Rather than offer it as a commercial release, however, the decision was made to release it to the public for free. It’s been available since 2003 for Windows and Linux as well. This news marks the game’s Macintosh debut, thanks to the efforts of Aspyr Media Inc.’s own Brad Oliver. The Mac release is based on the new version 2.60 build, which sports optimizations and addresses client and server issues.
